Arkansas Razorbacks, or simply ìThe Razorbacksî or ìHogs,î are a group of varsity teams that play for the University of Arkansas. The group takes its name from the pig of the same name, although the original name of the teams was the ìCardinals.î Incidentally, the Hogs are the only group that has used a porcine for its nickname.
The group is headed by their athletic director, Jeff Long, and its various teams play in many facilities located all over Fayetteville. For example, the football team plays their home games at the Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium and the War Memorial Stadium, while the baseball team plays its home games at the Baum Stadium at George Cole Field.
Like many other university teams, the Hogs have a number of distinguished alumni that have moved on from their cardinal and white team colors. Some of the said athletes include Ken Hamlin, Jerry Jones (owner of the Dallas Cowboys), Corliss Williamson, Scott Hastings, and John Daly.
