The Indiana Hoosiers or the Indiana University Bloomingtonís athletic team is a division one team of the National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA. Athletic teams sponsored by the university include cross country, track, golf, tennis, rowing, baseball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and football.
In December 1, 1991, the Hoosiers became a member of the Big Ten Conference. The team has 24 National Collegiate Athletic Association titles and one AIAW. They have won six menís sports and one womenís sport.
The Hoosiers won seven titles in menís soccer and a record straight of six titles in menís swimming. The diving division of the Hoosiers also coveted six titles. In addition the Hoosiers menís basketball has won 133 National Collegiate Athletic Association titles.
Athletes from Indiana University were also named to the Academic All-Big Ten Squad 2,280 times in the history of the NCAA. All in all the students from I.U. have won more than 3,000 academic awards.
The Purdue Boilermakers are one of the Hoosiers biggest rivals in the field of Athletics and single sports competition.
