Jeff Dunham is an American stand-up comedian and ventriloquist. He is a native of Dallas, Texas. He attended the Baylor University in Waco. According to him, he has never had a real job. Dunham started ventriloquism at age 8 years. He considers it a skill that anyone with a normal speaking voice can learn. He made his TV debut on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. In 1996, he also appeared on the talks show “Ellen”.

In 2003, Dunham appeared on his first solo act on Comedy Central Presents. He showcased early versions of his characters including Melvin the Super Hero Guy, Walter, and Jose Jalapeño on a Stick. In 2008, Dunham released his first music album entitled “Don’t Come Home for Christmas”. ‘The Jeff Dunham Show’, is scheduled to air on October 2009.

Dunham was recognized by Slate.com as being ‘America’s Favorite Comedian’ and according to Pollstar, he is the top grossing stand up comedian in North America. As of early 2009, Dunham has already sold over four million copies of his DVDs. He has also received over 300 million hits on YouTube. His most notable works include ‘Jeff Dunham: Arguing With Myself’ and ‘Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity’. The later is noted for being the best reviewed DVDs of 2008 in Amazon.com.
