Jerome Allen "Jerry" Seinfeld is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor who is known for portraying a semi-fictional version of himself in a long running comedy called ìSeinfeld.î Born on April 29, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York, United States, Seinfeld comes from a family that has a Galician Jewish and Syrian Jewish background.
While in college, Seinfeld took up communications and theater, and was able to participate in small stints in college productions. After he graduated from Queens College, Seinfeld tried his hand at an open-mic night at Catch a Rising Star in New York city, which then lead to an appearance in an HBO special featuring Rodney Dangerfield.
By 1989, Seinfeld created ìThe Seinfeld Chroniclesî which was later renamed to ìSeinfeldî. After running for four seasons, the show became one of the most popular sitcoms in America.
Seinfeld has received Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Emmy Awards.
