Miley Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992 to country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife. She started her career on screen at a very young age, appearing on her father’s TV series ‘Doc’ as a child. However, it was her role as Hannah Montana, a teenager who led a double life as a famous pop star that propelled her into stardom. Cyrus initially auditioned to be the best friend to the main character in the show but ended up snagging the lead part instead. She would eventually audition her own dad to play her character’s dad on the show.

Cyrus released her first album in 2006, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. A few months prior to that, she made her debut as a recording artist with the release of the fourth edition of DisneyMania. She later released a double album in 2002, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus, which again debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 charts.

Miley launched her second studio album, Breakout in 2008. This also debuted at number one on the Billboard charts and the album’s first single, “7 Things” debuted at number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Cyrus’ film career started its rise during this time, with a small role in Disney’s High School Musical 2 and as the voice of Penny in the animated doggie flick “Bolt”.
