The New York Mets is a professional baseball team that is a member of the East Division of Major League Baseball’s National League. The team is based in the borough of Queens in New York City. The team came to be when in 1957 two of the baseball teams in New York relocated from the city to California.

During their history in the game, the Mets have won two World Series titles, one in 1969 and another in 1986. The team was also able to win four National League pennants namely in 1969, 1973, 1986, and 2000. The Mets is also known to have won five National League East titles (1969, 1973, 1986, 1988 and 2006).

 The Mets is a competitive baseball team and have proven to be so with more appearances in the World Series than any other expansion team in Major League Baseball history. They have also held the New York baseball attendance record for 29 years, breaking the Yankees’ 1948 record. The Mets have also broken their own record five times before the Yankees were able to take it back in 1999. Another record held by the Mets is that no Met pitcher has ever thrown a no-hitter and franchise hurler’s have gone more than 7,500 games without pitching one, which is longer than any other Major League franchise.
