Peter Pan is a popular musical play in the United States and also in Europe. Because of its fame and glamour more and more people buy the playís ticket.
Two books entitled ìPeter Panî and ìPeter and Wendyî was the reason behind the creation of this musical play. The two novels were written by Sir James Mathew Barrie, a Scottish author and dramatist. While Mark Charlap and Jule Styne were the person responsible in the playís music.
In 1954, Mary Martin as Peter and Cyril Ritchard as Captain Hook played the original Broadway musical show. Both stars earned awards from Tony Awards.
This was followed by airings in the National Broadcasting Company in 1955, 1956, and 1960.
The show has three Broadway revivals that started from 1979 until 1998. In October 20, 1954, a musical version of the play was premiered at the Winter Garden Theater in New York. The show had a record of 152 performances during that same year.
In 2007, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron planned to revive the show by producing a film version of it.
