The Seattle Mariners is professional baseball team playing in Major League Baseball’s Western Division. The team is based in Seattle, Washington, and it was franchised in 1977. From its start, the Mariners used to play at Kingdome until they transferred in July 1999 to Safeco Field, which they call home until today.
The name of the team was derived from the presence of marine culture that is evident all over Seattle. The team is sometimes referred to as “the M’s” which was featured in their logo from the year the team was started until 1992. The team’s original colors were gold and royal blue, until it was changed in 1992 to teal, navy blue, and metallic silver.
The team is currently owned by Nintendo of America, and is managed by Don Wakamatsu. So far, the team has enjoyed 3 west division titles, but no World Series titles acquired. Team Hall of Famers includes Alvin Davis, Jay Buhner, and Edgar Martinez.
