About TheNutcracker
The Nutcracker is a fairy-tale ballet composed in 1891 to 1892 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It is comprised of three scenes, two acts. The story has a Russian setting and set in Christmas – making the ballet best played during the Christmas season.

On Christmas Eve, the President’s family hosts a party for family and friends. The President’s children, Clara and her little brother Fritz, are also in attendance. Sometime later, a mysterious godfather name Herr Drosselmeyer enters the scene and gives gifts to all the children, except Clara. Three life-sized dancing dolls were also produced. After the dancing, Clara approached Drosselmeyer to ask for her gift – she was given the Nutcracker, portrayed as a traditional soldier in uniform.

Clara was overjoyed with the gift but her younger brother got jealous and broke the toy. Drosselmeyer stayed and fixed the toy and the people went to sleep. Clara awoke and in a dream or reality heard the mice that stop her from running away. Suddenly, the Nutcracker comes to life and defends Clara. This continued until the mouse king died; hereafter, the Nutcracker was transformed into a prince and the two traveled the world.

The Nutcracker is a favorite Christmas production – various theaters across the nation and all over the world produce their own adaptation every year.
